My Story
I’m Melanie, but you can call me Mel. I’m a certified Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP), Holistic Nutritionist, and wellness expert based in Los Angeles, CA. Choose Well with Mel grew out of my passion for helping women stop dieting and start learning how to eat for their individual bodies. My “one size does not fit all” approach to nutrition and wellness has transformed my clients’ lives and my own life.
I was once exactly where you might be right now. I was frustrated and confused about what to eat in order to feel and function as I desired. I’ve had a complicated and toxic history with my relationship with food. I struggled with disordered eating as a teenager, and as a result, constantly felt confused about how to free myself from food guilt. I tried every diet under the sun, but somehow always found myself starting over. Luckily, this confusion evolved into more of a fascination, turned passion - eventually becoming my purpose: to help others overcome this same struggle.
I pivoted to nutrition and wellness from my previous career in the television industry. Through my education, developing my method, and putting it to practice, I truly changed my own life.
I want to share my biggest realizations from my health journey with you.
Guilt is something you create, not consume. When you’re choosing the right types of food, you can eat more, not less. When you eat whole foods and ditch the processed ones, you will see results. You can balance your hormones, lower your inflammation, and gain back your energy. You can fit into your favorite jeans without justifying it on a scale. When your mind is aligned with your process, your health will improve. You don’t need to eat under rules and restrictions when your intuition is already so powerful.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me cooking and creating recipes, getting some Vitamin D outdoors, and spending time with my husband, Ben, and my daughter, Emma.
